a much needed rest

So, after a number of days of CRAAAAZY action and running from one thing to another in Amsterdam (not to mention London), we decided we all needed a rest day. Bodies were exausted, brains were not working right, tensions were high, and a change needed to take place.

And so we declared Thursday to be an official day of rest and chilling out!

It started with the girls saying, "Can we do the dishes?"

Uhhhh yes you can!

Then they said, "Can we make a spa? Can we give you massages?"

Um, yes. Yes, you can do that too!

Well that was amazing...

We continued the day with a relaxing venture to a nice park in Amsterdam: Vondel Park. Lovely!

A picnic lunch was enjoyed by all, until we noticed how much doggy poop was lying around us - haha!!

Ryan hung his pear core in a a tree. Kind of whimsical, don't you think?

Cheeks full of cherries!

And I could hardly resist posing with the awkwardly shaped pear boobs. Weird. I know.

We then moved on to another spot (less poopy) and sat at the water's edge while the girls played on the grass, threw sticks in the water, watched the birds, and spent time sketching all they could see.

We then meandered back home. That night, our lovely AirBnB hosts said we could use their kitchen to cook a meal (our place only has a mini fridge and microwave), and so we bought a few groceries and cooked up a lovely dinner!

It was lovely to have a kitchen after nearly a week without! We have done amazingly well with not just heading to restaurants for every meal (amazing what you can do with so little facilities!), but it was really nice to actually havea sharp knife, and a stove, and eat something HOT. Yum!

And that was Thursday. A lovely restful day.
